Small ticket repeat purchases can work nicely with more frequent price increases (like See's Candy) - large ticket, annual/multi-year agreements, and the like can be tougher for non-economic reasons - like budgets get set annually and it can be hard for clients to logistically accept the price rise. Psychologically, death by 1000 cuts is more acceptable than being decapitated.
